Falaise
William the Conqueror was born in
Falaise in 1027, son of Robert the
Magnificent and Arlette. William's
childhood castle is still standing,
miraculously saved from the centuries
and restored. Guided tours of the
castle are available as well as an
entertaining and artistic audio-visual
spectacle. The countryside which surrounds
the city, and which bears its name,
is full of many and varied things
to see and do for all tastes
