Lisieux
Lisieux will forever remain associated
with the name of Holy Therese, who
died in the greatest anonymity in
1897, was canonized in 1925 and has
since been adulated by Believers across
the world. The gigantic Basilique,
which bears her name, was built to
properly accommodate the many visitors
coming on annual pilgrimage. Lisieux
is in the middle of the "Pays
d'Auge"; horse country, houses
with wood sides, apple trees, cider
and Calvados brandy with its many
cellars and distilleries. To be visited
with passion but to tasted with moderation!
